Danish 3D school on international top 10 list

“One of Europe’s leading lights for 3D animation” – such was the description given to TRUEMAX academy, in Vanløse, in a new complete guide of the world’s best 3D schools. And with a ranking of 7th place in the Europe/South America/Asia/on-line list, TRUEMAX has achieved international recognition.

The dream of working with the making of computer animated films like “Shrek” and “The Incredibles”, computer games like “Hitman” and “World of Warcraft”, or computer animated visual effects for films such as “The Lord of the Rings” and “Harry Potter” is not unattainable.  Especially not if one is creative, has a technical flair – and has a solid 3D education behind one.

Qualified workers in demand
Whereas 3D computer graphics and animation were, just a few years ago, something that only complete nerds occupied themselves with, it has now grown to a giant industry in explosive expansion. 3D producers lack workers and the providers of 3D educations and courses are doing what they can to cover the need for well-educated 3D computer graphics artists and animators.

Global guide of the best 3D schools
To help the 3D practicians-to-be find their way through the large selection of 3D educations and courses, the magazine, “3D World” has taken the initiative of drawing up a complete global guide of the best 130 schools, course centres, and universities, etc, which offer instruction in 3D. The guide, “3D Training, the complete guide.” has been made in cooperation with a number of the largest 3D firms in the world, including DreamWorks, Tippett Studio, Blur Studio, Sony Imageworks and Pixar.

The guide is divided up into the best 50 education providers in respectively UK and in USA/Canada, plus the 30 best in Europe, South America, Asia, the rest of the world and on-line. Each of the 3 lists has a top 10.  TRUEMAX academy has achieved the distinguished place of number 7 in the Europe/South America/Asia/on-line list – and is the only Danish provider of 3D education which has gotten a placing in the top 10 list.

3D education in cooperation with the 3D branch
The contact between the individual 3D education providers and the 3D branch has a lot of importance placed on it in the guide.  Because it is to the advantage of everyone – the schools’, the students’, and the branch’s - that the curriculum’s of the 3D educations and courses contain instruction in the relevant skills which the branch is seeking.

It is this contact with the branch that is stressed in the guide’s description of TRUEMAX.  During the last few years, TRUEMAX has had a number of 3D animators and artists, from leading 3D studios such as EA Games, Dream Works, Ubisoft Games and Pixar, as instructors and external consultants.  As well as contacts on the international level, TRUEMAX has close contact with the 3D branch in Denmark.  Especially by virtue of the fact that the formal education committee consists of representatives from a number of the largest Danish 3D producers.

Job for the large majority
The cooperation with the 3D industry is apparently the way to go, when it comes to students getting a job after a completed education, because about 90% of the students at TRUEMAX academy have been employed in the 3D branch after their study.  The education as 3D Digital Artist and 3D Game Artist has an integrated practice period, and many have continued directly into a job afterwards. Many of them into Danish 3D firms such as A. Film, Radar Film, Gimmick VFX and KM-Animation which are all members of TRUEMAX academy’s education committee.
